About Us

GeoInsight was established through a partnership between Six Capital Group, Universitas Gadjah Mada, and Badan Restorasi Gambut in 2016. GeoInsight focuses on handling fire haze problem in peatland area over Sumatera and Kalimantan with Geospatial approach. The 110 thousand hectares of Padang Island, situated in Riau Province, North Sumatera, is chosen as the study area for its vulnerability to peatland fire and imminent danger due to the peatland subsidence as the collateral effect of the drained peatland.

GeoInsight is a website that presents research results. This research proposed a ground-based validation of the satellite data based on crowdsourcing approach. The approach is accomplished by means of developing an Android application, namely Liput Gambut mobile Android application (app), to obtain report and validation submitted by community residents on fire incidents in peatland area. In addition, this website provides information for users i.e.
